How to Dye Your Hair Pink!

Hi all!

I recently uploaded a video to my IGTV all about the process of how I dye my hair pink!

Go check it out on my Instagram @ariellebasha

if you want the break down keep on reading!

Some notes before we get started:

  • If you are bleaching your roots/hair make sure you are working in a well-ventilated room. Bleach SMELLS.

  • Always have multiple pairs of gloves on hand as well as towels in case you spill any bleach or dye throughout the process.

  • Wear clothes you don’t care about. You will get them dirty.

  • HAVE FUN! We dye our hair fun colors to express ourselves, so don’t take it too seriously ;)

First, let's get blonde!

Mix the bleach.

You need powder lightener (I use the brand Sparks) and Creme Developer 30 vol (I use Clairol Professional).

I have really thick hair so it takes about 2-2.5 packets of the powder lightener to bleach my roots - if you have thinner hair 1 packet will do just fine. Once you empty the packets of powder lightener into a bowl, pour in the creme developer a bit at a time until you have the consistency of a thin paste (no chunks!!)

Once your bleach is ready divide your hair into sections starting at the bottom. Tie your hair up in a bun at the top of your head and start painting!

Use the brush to paint the dark sections of your hair. You will not notice a difference in the color at first so use your hands (with gloves on!) to really rub the bleach into your hair to make sure everything is fully covered.

When you’re done leave the bleach in for 30 minutes until you notice that your hair is BLONDE AF.

Rinse and shampoo out your hair and then blow-dry it straight so you can start the PINK!

Here’s a break down of all the colors I used (from lightest to darkest):

(I’ve provided links, but I buy ALL my beauty products at Ricky’s NYC.)

Sparks Silver

Pravana Vivids Pink

Sparks Rose Gold

Pravana Too Cute Coral

Pravana Locked In Pink

Sparks Wild Flamingo

Sparks Red Velvet

now for the fun part:

Use three different bowls to mix a lighter, middle and darker color (this is if your using the same ombre effect that I have!).

Use the lighter shade for the tips/ends of your hair, the middle for the middle section and then the darkest color near your roots.

Use the same process of dividing your hair into sections and paint away from the bottom up.

When applying the color be GENEROUS! You really want to get it all in there.

Again, use the brush to apply it at first and then use your gloved hands to rub the dye into your hair, ensuring you’ve covered it all.

Leave the hair dye in for 1-2 hours (I usually like to watch a movie or read a book!).

Then, shampoo your hair twice to get everything out, and condition your hair leaving the conditioner in for 3 minutes.

Blow-dry and style your hair as usual!
